sdf.sys_alpha

The alpha-build of sdf.sys brought together a number of mini-projects into a single system with a GL user interface.   Some of those mini-projects are listed within the sndmkr page of my PhD archive site, but it is beyond the scope of this site to really go in to the genesis of the system described on this site.

In the following pages the alpha build is documented, but for a quick overview the whole thing take a look at this exported LucidChart document:

alpha build

Of the aims motivating the alpha build, there are two objectives which stand out:

The timeframe imposed on the alpha build by CMJ DVD was of particular incentive. The notes accompanying that publication are reproduced , along with embedded video of the system, on this page.

sdf.sys_alpha

The image at the top of this page is a glyphic rendition of the _alpha interface design in which the main area is square, and to the right of that larger square, eight smaller squares are arranged in a grid of two columns.   Each of the smaller squares represents a 'space' within the system, and sound is made by loading 'structures' into those spaces and making connections between them.   Aspects of each space can be represented, interactively, in the main area of the ui.

In this section about _alpha build implementations, the next page is about the gl ui:
